Ditzler code 12002 - blue
This blue automotive paint color is most commonly known as Barbados Blue. Other common color promotional names include Shalimar Blue, Vanguard Blue, Medium Blue, Georgian Blue, and Sapphire Mist. The color formulation has been used between 1959 and 1960, primarily by Cadillac; but also by Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, and GM. We have records of this color appearing on the following models: Cadillac, Buick, Oldsmobile, and Pontiac. See the full detailed list below.

12002 is a paint code for PPG (Pittsburgh Plate Glass) who has been providing automotive paints since 1924 (originally Ditzler Color Company subsidiary acquired in 1928). PPG/Ditzler codes in the 10000 to 95000 range were used on new paint formulations from the late 1930's to 1968. PPG/Ditzler codes in the 10000 to 19999 range are primarily shades of blue. These PPG codes serve as a great way to track the usage of paint between and within vehicle manufacturers.
