1959 GM Bombay Ivory paint
This white automotive paint color is most commonly known as Bombay Ivory. Other common color promotional names include Ivory, White, and Gray Ivory. The color formulation has been used between 1955 and 1972, primarily by Chevy Truck which eventually became part of GM; but also by Ford. We have records of this color appearing on the following models: Chevy Truck, GM Special Order / Fleet, and Ford Special Order / Fleet. See the full detailed list below.

The short model/year code for this paint in 1959, is 701. The longer GM paint manufacturing code, sometimes called the "Fisher paint code", is WE5578. The longer Ford paint manufacturing code is MX702511. Ford paint codes starting with MX are usually older (pre 1970) special order paints that have been matched to popular paints from other manufacturers such as GM or Chrysler. These longer manufacturing codes are useful for tracking paint usage.
